May contain spoilers.

Why ”Womanizer” by Sliimy instead of Britney Spears? Isn’t the original the best?

The excessive production for the original version of this song grates on my ears, and the unemotional quality of Britney’s robotically over-processed vocals leave me empty. On the other hand, I love the minimalism and torchy vocals in Sliimy’s version. He sounds more like old school Britney Spears than even Britney herself with his smooth and seductive vocals. The Sliimy’s male gender changes the context of the song to something more subversive than just a lament about a woman’s cheating lover.

How Does The Song Relate to the Story

This song reflects Camello Basma’s opinion on Bahktale “Lucky” Vasquez abnormal sex-drive and the real reason behind it. Lucky’s voracious sexual appetite and two-faced attitude towards women for the purpose of not dealing with his homosexuality taints much of his personality. His sociopathic propensity towards manipulating women is especially obvious in the uncensored version of The Wanted. Even after he forsook all other women in the interests of social status, Lucky found that the only way he could get aroused by his wife, Marlborina, involved emotional abuse and making it clear that she was just as disposable as his other conquests.

Want to hear this song? Check out the Rasputin Barxotka playlist on Spotify.

To all of the moms out there in our audience, I hope that you had a lovely Mother’s Day. I took mine out for a fabulous brunch buffet presented by the A.T. The Black & White restaurant. There’s nothing better to start the morning with a chocolate fountain, beautiful desserts, fruits, veggies, a decent selection of potatoes, asparagus eggs Benedict, salmon and roast beef. It was so yummy. As for me, my cats allowed me to have a nap. That’s a good enough gift for a cat mom, in my opinion.

On other news, I started planting leafy greens on the non-certified organic plot that my husband and I share. Our radishes are beginning to show up, and everything is growing according to plan. In the agribusiness end of the farm, my husband and everyone else working there finished potato planting. It’s a joy to see living things grow out of the ground, and it’s a relief knowing that the weather is finally cooperating. There are few pleasures in life greater than knowing where your food comes from, especially when that knowledge inspires your art. If you’ve ever wondered why much of the action in a few chapters of Rasputin Barxotka takes place on a rural setting, it’s because I adore living in the country.

As Mandarr mentioned in the last post, we had to accelerate our updates this week. I have thumbnails featuring all the pages that I posted this last week for your viewing pleasure. Some the pages depict a prison rape, so please be prepared mentally if you suffer from triggers related to sexual assault. The scene in question was so difficult for me to draw without going into tremors or crying that Narphy La Mancha had to handle the pencils and inks. I’m not kidding. A big thanks also goes out to Skaja for making the update acceleration possible.

I care about Rasputin Barxotka quite a bit. I am a bit obsessed with (Former) Soviet Bloc crime history in the 80′s and 90′s. Fear of the nuclear arms race tainted my childhood with constant nightmares. The fall of the Soviet Union was a major turning point in my life. I always wanted to understand why the “Evil Empire” that President Reagan railed against collapsed so spectacularly. The Velvet Rasputin project as a whole has given the motivation to understand how internal corruption tore a once powerful country apart. It helped me understand a people and a nation I once feared. It helped me learn powerful historical lessons, that the United States is failing to heed. It’s been an amazingly cathartic metaphorical outlet.
