Dear readers,

When we needed a cover artist for Dissident Priest #4, the decision crew immediately wanted Jack Cayless and his sexy pin-up work.  In fact, Catnose Comics happened to become his first ever commission client ever, the moment he started offering them.  Decisions for cover artists aren’t always so easy.

The crew had a very hard choice in picking out the best person to create the equally contested cover for Dissident Priest #3.  We had five different artists in mind, each one with wildly differing styles, all of them quite distinctive.   One of the prospective artists has extensive experience in drawing Russian tattoo art.  The other is an incredibly talented Yaoi artist with a taste for traditional manga.  Another artist is a frequent contributor and one of our favorites.  The fourth artist makes start gritty imagery that is at one sensual and terrifying.  Out of the five, the one who rose to the top was none other than fellow linguistics geek and International Cartoonist Conspiracy comic artist, Lupi Loops.

Lupi and I have known each other for a couple of years now, and I can attest that she is an absolute gem of a person.  She is also a killer artist, best known for her work in the fast-selling “Stop Your Gayness Issue” of False Witness! The Michelle Bachmann story.  Her watercolors are vivid and quite fetching.  We feel very honored to have her on board.

As I mentioned earlier, the cover art for issue #3 has been just as much of a difficult choice as picking out the right artist for the project.  If you haven’t done so already, please help us pick out the best image for Lupi to work on by voting on one of three ideas from my sketchbook.  Don’t think about your decision, just pick the image that speaks to you the most.  They are all excellent images, but we are only able to choose one.

As in the case of Dissident Priest #4, this issue will also be in full-color.  I have more cool announcements here at Rasputin Barxtoka, and I eagerly await the right moment to share them.  Until then, enjoy our webcomics, which are daily until mid-May!

Cheers,
Vas
